What Is the UAE Visa Medical Test?
The UAE medical fitness test screens visa applicants for certain infectious diseases that are considered a public health risk. The test is mandatory for: employment visa applicants, investor/freelance visa applicants, family visa dependents, and anyone applying for or renewing a UAE residence visa. Tests conducted: chest X-ray (for tuberculosis), blood test (for HIV/AIDS and some STIs). Failing the medical test: applicants who test positive for HIV or active TB are not permitted to hold a UAE residence visa and will be deported. There is no appeal process for medical fitness rejections.
Where to Get the UAE Visa Medical Test
Medical tests must be done at ICP-approved clinics (not just any hospital). Major approved centres: Al Rashfa Medical Fitness Testing Centres (Dubai — run by ICP), Tawteen Centres (Abu Dhabi — run by ADNOC Health), and designated government hospitals and approved private clinics in each emirate. UAE Medical Test Process
Step 1: Pay the medical test fee online via ICP or AMER before visiting the centre. Fee: AED 230–320 depending on emirate and number of tests. Step 2: Visit the approved clinic with your passport and Emirates ID application receipt. Step 3: Blood is drawn (5–10 minutes), chest X-ray taken (5–10 minutes). Step 4: Results are available on the ICP system within 3–7 working days. Step 5: If you pass: your residency visa application proceeds automatically. Step 6: If you fail: you will be notified and typically given 30 days to exit the UAE.
