UAE Visa Medical Fitness Test: Complete Guide 2025

📅 Last reviewed: August 5, 2026📋 By: UAE Freezone Compare Visa TeamFact-checked by UAE Freezone Compare Editorial Team

All UAE long-term residence visa applicants must pass a medical fitness test. Here is the complete 2025 guide to the UAE visa medical test.

What the UAE Medical Fitness Test Covers

The UAE medical fitness test includes: chest X-ray (for tuberculosis detection), blood test (for HIV/AIDS and certain communicable diseases), and general physical assessment (weight, height, blood pressure check at some centres). The test is administered by UAE government-approved medical centres. Test results are transmitted electronically directly to the immigration authority (GDRFA in Dubai, ICP for federal) — no paper result is issued to the applicant.

Approved UAE Medical Centres

Dubai: approved medical fitness centres (Amer Centres, Al Baraha Hospital, specific private clinics listed on GDRFA website). All approved medical centres are listed on the GDRFA Smart Services portal. Abu Dhabi: HAAD (Health Authority Abu Dhabi) approved clinics listed on the HAAD website. Sharjah, RAK, Ajman, Fujairah, UAQ: local health authority approved centres in each emirate. Cost of medical fitness test: AED 250-600 depending on emirate and centre (government rates vs. private centres).

Medical Fitness Test Results Timeline

Results: electronic, linked to the applicant Emirates ID application. Typically available within 24-48 hours of the test. If results are pending: immigration will not process the Emirates ID or residence visa stamp until the result is received and cleared. If results show a health condition that leads to visa refusal: the immigration authority will notify the applicant. The applicant must leave the UAE (if on a visit visa) or may appeal via the appropriate health authority channel in specific cases. Practical tip: complete the medical fitness test as early as possible after arriving in the UAE on your entry permit, to avoid delays in the visa stamping process.
