The UAE has a national credit bureau β AECB (Al Etihad Credit Bureau) β that tracks the credit history of individuals and businesses. Here is a complete guide to UAE credit scores and business credit reports.
What Is the AECB?
Al Etihad Credit Bureau (AECB) is the UAE’s official credit reporting agency, established in 2014 under Federal Law No. 6 of 2010. AECB collects credit information from: UAE banks and finance companies, telecom operators (du, Etisalat/e&), and government entities. AECB produces: credit reports (detailed list of credit facilities, repayment history, outstanding balances), credit scores (a numerical score reflecting creditworthiness), and credit alerts (notifications when your credit report changes).
UAE Business Credit Report
For UAE businesses: the AECB business credit report tracks: business loans and overdraft facilities, credit cards in the company’s name, commercial mortgages, and trade finance facilities. Note: the AECB also tracks the PERSONAL credit history of business owners β UAE banks check both the company credit report and the director/shareholder personal credit reports when assessing a business loan application. A personal credit default can block a business from obtaining UAE banking facilities.
How to Get a UAE Credit Report
Individual credit report: request via the AECB app or aecb.gov.ae. Cost: AED 104β158 for a full report with score. Business credit report: available via AECB for registered UAE businesses. Cost: AED 210β420. How to improve UAE credit score: pay all debts on time (especially credit cards and loans), do not exceed 30% of your credit limit on cards, avoid multiple simultaneous credit applications, and ensure all company liabilities are serviced on time (particularly WPS salaries β late WPS can affect company credit standing via MOHRE reporting).
